hummingbirds

Hummingbirds? Early May always makes me think of flowers and birds. In the Northeast US, we only have ruby-throated hummingbirds. I don't like to feed birds directly; I'd rather be lazy and smug and grow plants which attract birds. Did I mention lazy?

night rain

There's something comforting in a freshet of night rain. The curtains flutter in first, then a light pattering, and then a steady whisper and sudden cooling.

hunt

Amazing how vines and plants hunt out water, sun, and support. That snappy tang when you pinch off stems. Pea tendrils reaching out for the chain link fence. Makes me want to get planting.
